Fort Campbell officials are investigating a security threat that closed Gate 10 Friday morning.
According to the U.S. Army Fort Campbell, emergency services responded to a security threat at Gate 10 at the installation, and they were able to safely evacuate all soldiers and family members from the area.
The situation is reportedly under control, but Gate 10 remains closed as law enforcement and Emergency Services searches and clears the area. In response, Fort Campbell has temporarily closed Gate 10.
Commercial trucks should use Mabry Gate until Gate 10 reopens and POVs should use an alternate gate.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
UPDATE (1:38 p.m.):
Gate 10 has reopened and residents in the Woodlands neighborhood, which is near the area, have been able to return home following an evacuation.
According to a news release, the gate closure and evacuation occurred as a result of a bomb threat in a vehicle at the gate. The vehicle was searched and no explosives were found.
The driver was detained and transported to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital for an evaluation. Fort Campbell Garrison Commander Colonel James Snowden says thankfully there was no threat to the community and their emergency responders responded quickly to the incident, to ensure the safety of those in the area.
The incident is currently under investigation.
