Public hearing for KU rate change request delayed in Madisonville until Oct. 30

There’s been a date change for a public comment hearing regarding the rate change requests for Kentucky Utilities and Louisville Gas and Electric, due to a scheduling conflict.

The meeting had originally set to take place this coming Monday, but due to the conflict, it has been pushed back to now happen on October 30 at 5 p.m. in Madisonville City Council chambers. Those chambers are located at 77 North Main Street in Madisonville, Kentucky.

On May 30, 2025, LG&E and KU filed applications for a general adjustment of its base rates using a forecasted test year and included other related accounting requests and tariff changes.

KU has customers in northern Christian County and has asked for an 11.5 percent increase to their rates, which would mean a monthly increase of $18.14 for KU customers using 1,085 kilowatt hours.

Comments can be submitted at any time to Public Service Commission.
