Grind session brings top basketball players to city

Some of the top college basketball prospects in the United States and Canada will be in Hopkinsville next month as The Grind Session makes its second appearance in the city.

This year’s play-in tournament is scheduled for Oct. 2-5 and will be held at the Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex, Hopkinsville High School, and Christian County High School.

Christian County Public Schools Activities Director Kerry Stovall was a guest of the Early Bird Show recently and emphasized that these are not the average high school basketball players.

There are 37 teams from 16 states and Canada playing in the event. Stovall said fans will be able to see some of the top Division I recruits and signees in this tournament.

Stovall said the tournament will also be beneficial to hotels and businesses in Hopkinsville.

Another Grind Session event is planned in December. Stovall said he would release more details about that event at a later time.
