Steelers place Cory Trice Jr. on injured reserve list

Former Christian County High School football star Cory Trice Jr. was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday evening.

NFL teams had to trim their rosters to 53 by 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Being placed on injured reserve with a designation to return means Trice cannot play the team’s first four games but does keep him with the Steelers.

The 6-foot-3, 206-pound cornerback told SteelerNow that he had wanted to be back from a hamstring injury he suffered on Aug. 1 before the first game on Sept. 7.

“It’s going good. Right on track. Actually, ahead of plan,” he said. “[Week 1], that’s what we’re shooting for right now. We’re just trying to take it day by day, ain’t trying to be crazy with it, ain’t trying to break no records right now. It’s a long season, so we’re getting ready for it.”

The hamstring is the latest in a series of injuries that have hampered the start to Trice’s NFL career. He missed his rookie season with an ACL injury. Last year, Trice made his first career interception against the Denver Broncos in Week 2. The following week, he suffered a hamstring injury that cost him most of the season. He ended up appearing in just six games.
