Gate Seven at Fort Campbell is set to close to personal vehicles in September while the roadway undergoes repairs and flood mitigation efforts.
Gate Seven Road was impacted by flooding in early April, and the continued heavy traffic in the area has reportedly led to the deterioration of the roadway. Fort Campbell Public Works Director Matthew Brackett says the project aims to tackle both the roadway repairs and storm water runoff improvements to ensure a smoother driving experience.
During the closure, commercial vehicle drivers will still need to obtain a pass at the Gate Seven Visitor Control Center; however, to enter the installation, drivers must go through Gate 10. Then, school buses transporting student-athletes from off-post schools to events on Fort Campbell must go through TC Freeman Gate.
Gate Seven closes starting on September 2, and detours will be posted. Ripcord Road is also set to close for repairs, but the project will be announced two weeks before it starts.
