A woman is facing a felony assault charge after she reportedly assaulted a woman and cut her with a butcher knife Tuesday night.
According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the 1300 block of East Ninth Street, with the victim already receiving treatment at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
The victim informed officers that she and 41-year-old Darnita Gordon of Hopkinsville had been at the bowling alley in Hopkinsville when Gordon punched her in the face.
They went to the residence on East Ninth to collect Gordon’s belongings, which is when she reportedly became irate and struck the victim in the forehead with a cast iron pan. That’s when Gordon allegedly pulled a knife from a suit case and cut the victim’s arm, leaving a deep laceration.
Gordon was arrested and charged with first-degree assault.
