A crash on July 3 sent a Murfreesboro man to a local hospital after he reportedly had a medical emergency behind the wheel.
According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, it happened on the Pennyrile Parkway at approximately 6:30 p.m. near the 20-mile-marker when the driver of one vehicle, 58-year-old Erwin Vaughn of Murfreesboro, had a medical emergency while operating his vehicle southbound. The vehicle swerved into the left lane before hitting the median and coming to a stop.
At that moment, a vehicle that had been heading northbound was struck by debris from the crash, causing damage.
CPR was conducted on Vaughn on at the scene, and he was flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment. A passenger in his vehicle, 64-year-old Terri Vaughn, was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center as a precaution.
Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.
