A Madisonville man is facing a first-degree arson charge after he allegedly used homemade ‘Molotov cocktails’ to set a residence on Hanson Street on fire Thursday.
According to the Madisonville Police Department report, officers responded to the scene of a housefire in the 700 block of Hanson Street after firefighters saw what they believed to Molotov cocktails at the scene. Officers located four energy drink cans that had been converted into the fire devices. There were two victims home at the time of the blaze.
While searching the area, officers reportedly found more Molotov’s at a nearby residence where 35-year-old Clyde Bymaster of Madisonville resides. They made contact with Bymaster the next day to interview him and he allegedly told officers he made the Molotov cocktails using gasoline and then threw them at the home, saying he was upset with the victim, but said, “I told her I was sorry anyways”.
Bymaster was arrested and charged with first-degree arson.
