The Western Kentucky State Fair rolls on, and it continues Tuesday with Pennyrile Electric Day.
So far, just over 13,000 people have gone through the gates at the fair since it began Friday, and 2,130 came through Monday night. Today, Pennyrile Electric members can get into the fair for free from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. with a coupon they would have received in their Kentucky Living magazine.
Rides open at 5 p.m. with $25 armbands, and then new this year, Fair Board Chair Kent Boyd says there will be a dance party with a DJ playing music in the air-conditioned convention center starting at 6 p.m.
Then in the grandstands, it’ll be Go-Kart Races starting at 7 p.m. and the 4-H/FFA Rabbit and Poultry Show will begin at 6 p.m.
Wednesday will be Military and First Responders Day at the fair, where its free admission for active-duty military, dependents, veterans and first responders with ID. Military and first responders will also get a discount on unlimited ride armbands. They’ll be $10 for military and then $25 for the public.
Boyd says they try each year to make the event special for those local heroes that do so much to serve their communities.
Wednesday also brings the Mini-Outlaw Pulls in the grandstands starting at 7 p.m. and new this year, there will be a hot dog eating contest starting at 7 p.m. in the convention center, and you can still join in on the competition on westerkentuckystatefair.org. Winners receive two armbands for rides and two meal tickets.
Then, Boyd says they’ll have Cutter and Cash performing, and they’ll do two shows, with one starting at 8 p.m. Boyd says they’re a local group that’s really blasting off, and he says people won’t want to miss it.
