Demolition Derby, pageants continues the fun Saturday at WKSF

After a solid start to the Western Kentucky State Fair on opening night Friday, the fun is set to continue Saturday with some fan favorites.

According to Fair Board Chair Kent Boyd, Friday saw 3,188 visitors come through the gates on the first night, and combined with the 180 that participated in the Quiet Midway, sensory friendly event on Thursday, that puts the total so far at 3,368. That’s just trailing last year’s opening night by only 280 attendees.

Saturday, even with the heat outside, is bound to be a popular night of events, with the Demolition Derby taking over the grandstands at 7 p.m. The pageants began in the morning with the children’s pageants in the air-conditioned convention center, the teen pageants in the afternoon, the Ms. and Mrs. WKSF pageant starts at 5:30 p.m. and then the Miss WKSF pageant will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Rides open at 5 p.m. with $30 armband night for unlimited rides. Sunday will be Faith and Family Day, where individuals can get into the fair for free from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. and enjoy free rides from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. when you bring your church bulletin.
