Hopkinsville man federally sentencing for trafficking in fentanyl

A Hopkinsville man will spend nine years in federal prison for conspiring to traffic in fentanyl following sentencing in federal court recently.

According to court records, 47-year-old Jamie Harris obtained a shipment of fentanyl pills that he intended to distribute, with a DEA lab confirming the presence of more than 40 grams of a mixture that contained fentanyl. Harris was on federal supervised release that the time this occurred.

As such, Harris has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison—along with an additional one year for violation of supervised release—for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl.

This case is being investigated by the DEA Paducah Post of Duty, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and the Hopkinsville Police Department Special Investigations Unit.
