Clarksville will soon be home a new, full-service hospital, as Ascension Saint Thomas has announced their plans to build a new location there.
According to a news release, the 44-bed facility will be located on 96-acres of land at the intersection of Highway 76 and I-24, with the ability to expand to 132 beds in the future. The hope is to reduce travel time, improve care coordination and expand available services close to home.
The hospital and health campus will include emergency care, inpatient surgery, cardiology, oncology, women’s health, neonatal intensive care, orthopedics and more specialties. They will also offer outpatient surgery, advanced imagine and other ambulatory and outpatient services.
This project represents a $148.5 million investment, and is set to create 250 new jobs in the area.
Data shows that currently, many residents in Montgomery County travel as far as 50 miles for surgical and obstetric care.
Ascension Saint Thomas President and CEO Fahad Tahir says, “We believe in access to high-quality healthcare, and this new health system ensures our neighbors in Clarksville have a future choice of healthcare providers in the community to receive the care they need.”
The land has been secured—now, a Letter of Intent has been submitted to apply for a Certificate of Need, which will enter a formal review period with the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission.
