The Christian County Colonels couldn’t get their bats going on Saturday and dropped a high school baseball doubleheader to Daviess County and Union County at Colonel Field.
In the second game, Daviess County took advantage of five Christian County errors and defeated the host Colonels 6-1.
The Panthers scored a pair of runs in the first, fifth and seventh innings while the Colonels managed only one run in the bottom of the sixth. Christian County had only five hits in the game.
Gage McCart had a pair of singles to lead the Colonels. Sebastian Dazey, Gage Montes and Eddie Davis also had a hit.
Union County defeated Christian County 1-0 in an eight-inning baseball game on Saturday morning.
The Braves scored on an error in the top of the eighth spoiling a tremendous pitching effort from Drew Fincham.
Fincham went all eight innings, striking out eight and allowing only two hits.
Christian County managed only four hits in the game. Layton Creamer had a double and Aiden Lewis, Blake Boehman, and Davis had singles.
Nolan Young suffered the pitching loss. The freshman went 4 2/3 innings, giving up one earned run and striking out one.
The Colonels fell to 9-9 on the season and are scheduled to play host to District 8 foe Heritage Christian Academy at 6 p.m. today. Airtime for the pre-game show is 5:45 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm.
