After receiving reports of two men possibly trapped inside of a cave in Trenton, Todd County Emergency Management, county rescue, county ambulance and the Trenton Fire Department responded to the scene to search for the pair early Thursday morning.
Reports were made at around 12:30 a.m. and after talking with a family member of the men and the landowner it was found that the pair had entered a cave off Seay Road seven hours ago, but had only planned to explore it for four hours, according to a news release from Todd County Emergency Management.
Rescue personnel reportedly entered the cave by rope ladder and searched the immediate area, but found neither of the men. While waiting for experienced cave rescue personnel the men were heard calling out to rescue and were helped up the ladder exiting the cave.
The pair told response personnel that as they were exploring most of their lights failed them, and they had to feel their way out of the cave. The pair were reportedly muddy and tired, but denied having any injuries.
