In two weeks, citizens across the state will be lining up to cast their votes in Kentucky’s 2023 General Election. Christian County Clerk, Melinda Humphries shared how citizens can cast their votes at Tuesday’s Hopkinsville Rotary Club meeting.
With election day taking place on Tuesday, November 7, Humphries highlighted how people who can not make it to the polls can still vote. Registration for an absentee ballot closes on Tuesday at 11:59 p.m.
Absentee ballots allow voters to submit their ballots through the mail and are designated for those who can’t physically go to the polls because of a disability or if they are not currently residing in their voting county. To register for an absentee ballot, go to govote.ky.gov.
Humphries says another option for people who can not make it to the polls on election day is early voting which takes place from November 2 through November 4. During these days from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. all citizens registered to vote in the county can do so at the James E. Bruce Convention Center, Walnut Street Center and the Christian County Senior Citizen Center.
On the big day itself, election day citizens can cast their votes from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the full list of locations can be found on elect.ky.gov.
Humphries encourages those in the county to vote, saying the governor handles a lot decision making for the state.
