The Hoptown Half-Marathon and 5K brought hundreds of runners to Christian County Saturday morning, and they couldn’t have asked for better weather.
The race got started at bright and early in front of the Hopkinsville Municipal Building and participants, of which there was nearly 300 in-person, made their way through Hopkinsville and out into the county before looping their way to the finish line by the Christian County Justice Center.
Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent Toby Hudson says it was a beautiful day with tremendous turnout.
He thanked the numerous agencies and sponsor that make race day possible, as it truly takes a team effort to put on an event that spans miles—and all money raised will go to benefit Sanctuary, Inc. and the Christian County Rescue Team.
Plans will soon be underway for next years event, and Hudson says things went smoothly along the route, with plenty of water stations on hand. Racers got a chance to enjoy plenty of pancakes and waffles at the end of their race, along with a waffle-themed medal.
