Leavell leads Hoptown past Hopkins Central

The Hopkinsville Tigers won their third straight boys’ high school basketball game as they defeated host Hopkins County Central 78-63 on Saturday night.

Three Tigers were in double figures led by Jonovan Leavell’s 28 points. Jonathan Hart had 17 and James Bradley Jr. added 15 points and 18 rebounds.

Layton Giltner added nine points and 10 rebounds for Hoptown.

The Tigers improved to 11-13 on the season and will play Tuesday night at home against University Heights Academy. It is not a game that will count in the District 8 standings, but could affect both teams’ RPI, which could come into play if there is a tie in the District 8 standings at the end of the season.

Tuesday’s game is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. with the F&M Bank Pregame Show set for 5:45 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
