Hopkins County Central took advantage of a short-handed Christian County squad and defeated the Lady Colonels 73-67 Saturday in a girls’ high school basketball game.
Christian County (14-9) played without its leading scorer and rebounder, Ne’Vaeh Day, who was sick.
Anaysia Bagwell and Lazarie Daniel tried to pick up the slack with Bagwell scoring 22 of her 27 points in the second half and Daniel scoring 22 points in the game.
The Lady Storm outscored the Lady Colonels 21-8 in the second quarter and that was the difference in the game.
Hopkins Central improves to 13-9 and stopped Christian County’s five-game winning streak.
The Lady Colonels are back in action Tuesday night against Crittenden County at Lyle Dunbar Gym. Airtime for the F&M Bank Pregame show is 7:15 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm.
