UHA’s George makes unofficial visit to Missouri

University Heights Academy junior guard Tylin George had an eventful day last Saturday as he took an unofficial visit to the University of Missouri.

George, who is third in the state in scoring at 33.9 points per game, said he went as a guest of the Tigers and watched as they defeated Ole Miss. As part of the visit, he also was greeted by several assistant coaches and met some of the players.

The 6-foot-4 guard said he was impressed by what he saw at Missouri.

University of Missouri Assistant to the Head Coach and Senior Advisor David Nutt spent the most time with George. But he also spent some time with the players before the game. He said all the coaches encouraged him to keep working at his game.

UHA coach Terry Hayes said he sent a letter to Nutt hoping he would have some interest in the Blazers’ star guard. He was happy to get a text back from Nutt and they worked out a visit.

However, Hayes said George has to keep working to reach his goal of playing Division I basketball.

The UHA star guard has also been drawing interest from other colleges, including James Madison University.

George isn’t the only Blazer star drawing college attention. Senior forward Elijah Walton, who has been out for more than a week with a back injury, also is being heavily recruited.

The Blazers are back in action Tuesday night at home against the Bowling Green Purples, who are coached by D.G. Sherrill, a former assistant for Hayes at Hopkinsville High School.

Tipoff for the game is 6 p.m. with the F&M Bank Pregame show set for 5:45 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
