Tigers hold off Westview for 3rd victory

The Hopkinsville Tigers got out to an early lead and then held off Westview Martin, Tenn., 71-67 Saturday in a boys’ high school basketball game in the Hardwood Classic at Calloway County.

Hoptown led 43-26 at halftime and seemed to be cruising, but Westview outscored Hopkinsville 41-28 in the second half to make the game close.

Four Tigers were in double figures, led by Jonathan Hart and Layton Giltner, who each had 16 points. Deavery Ramey and James Bradley both had 14 for Hoptown, which improved to 3-5 on the season.

Giltner added 16 rebounds and Ramey had 13 rebounds for Hopkinsville.

The Tigers play Owensboro Catholic Friday in the Colonel Basketball Classic at Henderson County.
