There have been some big economic development announcements for Christian County recently, and Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight is hopeful they can keep that momentum going.
The mayor appeared on the WHOP Early Bird Show Friday morning and spoke about the announcement that Cinis Fertilizer will locate to Commerce Park II in Hopkinsville sometime next year, and says it’s a great announcement in multiple ways, not just for the creation of jobs but also its benefit to local agriculture.
He says they’ll be hearing more about what will be taking place with the historic L&N Depot, as a train enthusiast looks to renovate and revitalize that space.
Mayor Knight says they also continue to work diligently on bringing more industries to the Commerce Parks, and he’s hopeful there will be more announcements soon as details are ironed out. Â
Recently, Hopkinsville City Council moved to form their own Economic Development Committee that will consist of Ward Three Council member Don Marsh, Ward Four Council member Chuck Crabtree, Ward 11 Council member Jason Bell and City Attorney Doug Willen.
