Small businesses welcome in eager shoppers for Shop Small Saturday

Small Business Saturday went off without a hitch in Hopkinsville and surrounding communities Saturday, with citizens turning out in support of those businesses that decided to make this area home.

One such location was Milkweed Health and Harmony Emporium, and owner Julie-Anna Carlisle expressed her continuous gratitude and happiness at how many people support Milkweed, not just on Shop Small Saturday, but all year ‘round. She says this weekend is special because there are some folks she only sees during the holidays, and they seem to always make a stop by the store.

Milkweed has been open in downtown Hopkinsville for nearly ten years, and Carlisle says a lot has changed in that last decade, both with the business and personally.

One thing that hasn’t changed is her love for what she does and this community, and she says that when people shop local, they’re directly supporting those who call those communities home and have chosen to stay there and love it.

Those who took part in Shop Small Saturday in Hopkinsville were able to take part in a holiday open house at J. Schrecker Jewelry, peruse a holiday market at the Hopkinsville Brewing Company, grab some hot chocolate at business along Sixth Street, enter into drawings for giveaways, check out a Hoptown-themed advent calendar box at Visit Hopkinsville and much, much more, while enjoying local favorite restaurants, coffees and wines.
