Proceedings continue in the assault case against Devon Poindexter, with a plea offer possibly in the works.
Poindexter—who is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon—appeared alongside defense attorney Jason Holland and Commonwealth’s Attorney Maureen Leamy.
Leamy requested a brief continuance to give her time to talk with an investigator in the case concerning an interview that was conducted, to finalize the details on a potential offer.
Judge John Atkins set a pretrial date for December 18.
Poindexter had previously been accused of shooting Benjamin Murray at a party on East 14th Street in May, though conflicting information had let to the Commonwealth questioning Poindexter’s role in the incident and if he should even be the defendant on those charges.
He is out of custody at the moment awaiting a resolution to the case.
