Changes are underway at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library, but despite active construction, library staff are continuing their programming.
Mari-Alice Jasper from the library recently appeared on WHOP and shared that renovations have begun that will make the library more compliant with the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Jasper says their elevator will be expanded; the entire upstairs will be renovated and youth services will move upstairs while adult services will move downstairs. Â Â
It’s been a bit jarring to have an active construction area in the library but Jasper says it has turned into an educational opportunity. When they host youth services programs, Jasper says children will often ask about the construction and the tools being used.
Despite the construction, library staff have been able to continue their programs, but Jasper says some of them have temporarily relocated. Dark Reads Book Discussion Group meetings are now hosted at the Alhambra Theatre and their Fall Sip and Paint program was hosted at the Local.
The library hosts a wide array of programs for children and adults to stay up to date check out the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library on Facebook.
