HFD Fire Station Five to break ground Friday

The City of Hopkinsville is gearing up to break ground for the next Hopkinsville Fire Department station—Station Five, to be located on Walton Way.

The ceremony is set for Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the location at 101 Walton Way, where work has been well underway to get the site ready for construction. Speaking with WHOP News recently, Fire Chief Steve Futrell says they anticipate for construction to take about a year to complete.

He says this is a crucial step towards enhancing public safety and emergency response times in the community.  This will be the first time in 24 years that the city will expand its fire protection facilities, and marks investment in safeguarding lives, property and the overall well-being of the citizens of Hopkinsville and Christian County.

Mayor J.R. Knight says, “The addition of Fire Station 5 demonstrates our city’s proactive approach to meeting the needs of our growing community. It reinforces our commitment to providing the highest level of emergency response and support for our residents and businesses.”

The community is invited to take part in the ground breaking ceremony.
