Summer Salute is Hopkinsville’s largest annual festival and in 2025 it will take over the downtown area in September instead of late August. Â
After receiving feedback from attendees, Hopkinsville Parks Recreation announced the date shift which aims to make the festival more comfortable for event staff, vendors and attendees by avoiding the intense summer heat.
According to Parks and Recreation, the heat has created challenges for food truck vendors who have reported that temperatures inside their vehicles have reached up to 135 degrees Fahrenheit. They also point out that in September, Hopkinsville typically has more moderate temperatures.
Parks and Recreation Superintendent, Toby Hudson says their top priority is the safety and comfort of all parties involved, and they are optimistic the new September weekend will offer a better experience for everyone.
The ninth annual Summer Salute is set for September 12 and 13.
