Police arrest Hopkinsville man following vehicle, on foot pursuit

Hopkinsville Police arrested 30-year-old Elijah Thomas of Hopkinsville after he reportedly led law enforcement on a vehicle pursuit and then continued to flee from them on foot on Tuesday.  

According to a report, officers witnessed Thomas traveling west on Woodson Drive while not wearing a seat belt. Responding officers then reportedly pulled behind Thomas and initiated a traffic stop.

Instead of stopping, Thomas allegedly turned onto Henson Drive where he then turned into a private drive way and abandoned his car while it was still in gear. After Thomas exited it the car, it reportedly continued moving forward before hitting a garage at a residence.

Thomas fled on foot and was located at a residence on Rose Drive, after officers found the residence’s address on a banking card left behind in the vehicle.

Thomas was charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police, third-degree fleeing or evading police, failing to wear a seat belt, having no operators license, disregarding a stop sign, second-degree criminal mischief and failing to maintain insurance.
