Colonels blank Heritage Christian in soccer

The Christian County Colonels scored three times in the opening four minutes and cruised past host Heritage Christian Academy 8-0 Tuesday night in a boys’ District 8 soccer match.

Noah Davis started the scoring, taking a pass from Alex Hale and blasting a shot into the Warriors’ goal 1:30 into the contest.

Davis was on the passing end of the next goal, as he found Zamien Matlock, who scored the first of his three goals on the night 2:23 into the contest.

Christian Lopez got into the scoring act just over a minute later when he found the net on a pass from Leland Creamer for a 3-0 lead.

Hale’s second goal at 11:40 on a pass from Caden Brown pushed the Christian County lead to 4-0.

Heritage Christian got off its only shot on goal a short time later, but Colonels’ goalkeeper Mason Malone was there to stop the attempt. The Colonels outshot the Warriors 25-1 in the contest.

The Warriors played the match without its top scorer, Kallan Davis, who suffered an ankle injury last Saturday in a game against University Heights Academy and was unable to play Tuesday night.

Erwin Macario made it 5-0 on a pass from Riley Cook at the 18:18 mark of the first half and Valentin Gonzalez pushed the advantage to 6-0 on a pass from Jeremy Woolf at the 35:50 mark of the first half.

Christian County ended the game on the mercy rule quickly in the second half. Lopez passed to Matlock for a goal at the 46:28 mark and Brown found Matlock for the final goal at 47:25.

The Colonels improved to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in district play. They will play Tuesday at Henderson County.

Heritage Christian falls to 0-2 in district play and 1-7. The Warriors will play Thursday at Fort Campbell in a district contest.
