Local VFW to host service honoring 9/11 attack victims, survivors

The Hopkinsville Veterans of Foreign War Post 1913 invites the community to their September 11 Patriot’s Day Service on Wednesday to remember the lives lost and those who are still impacted by the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Local VFW Commander, John Brame says the service has been a tradition of theirs for around 15 years. The service will include a presentation of the colors by the VFW honor guard, an address from Christian County Military Affairs Committee Director Shannon Lane and will conclude with a balloon release and lunch.

Brame says it’s important to remember the September 11 attacks as they led to the War on Terrorism and the continue to affect many people today including survivors, those who lost a loved one in the attacks, first responders and those in the military.

The Patriot’s Day Service is set for 11 a.m. in the front lawn of VFW Post 1913.
