Rotary Club highlights mission of community giving, focus on education

The Rotary Club of Hopkinsville is on a mission to make people aware of what is that they do, how the raise funds and how they use those donated dollars to directly impact the community.

Rotarians Cody Noffsinger and Brandon Killebrew appeared on WHOP Friday morning and elaborated on what Rotary’s mission is and what they’re focused on bringing to the community—and that’s the truth, fairness to all concerned, building goodwill and better friendship, while being beneficial to all concerned. That’s a four-way test that any Rotarian is familiar with.

Noffsinger says they want to make sure everyone knows just how grateful they are for the community’s tremendous support in the club and their annual auction.

He says all the money raised goes right back into the community, whether that be through the many programs hosted by the Rotary Club, the Rotary Scholars program, or numerous grants awarded throughout the year.

One such is example is donations to the arts program in the local schools, including a $25,000 donation to the band programs, helping them get competition ready by purchasing new instruments.

Some other examples of Rotarian and community impact is $25,000 gifted to STEM education, $10,000 and $8,000 to the Interact and Early Act Clubs respectively in the schools and the Adulting 101 class that prepares students for careers and life skills.

Both Rotarians say none of that would be possible without the generosity of the community, which is routinely one of the most giving in the nation, and the Hopkinsville Rotary Auction is the most successful in the U.S., routinely raising over half-a-million dollars.
